Philosophy Statement

Grow and Learn Castle Kids Early Leaning Centres

We believe in Kotahitanga, therefore our place is your place, this is your whare too. Come in put the jug on, have a coffee and participate with us, share your life experiences, skills and knowledge. We want everyone to feel a sense of mana whenua (belonging) and aroha. We value being able to develop strong reciprocal relationships between all.

We believe that mana tangata (contribution) is valuable. As kaiako we strive to create the ‘wow’ learning moments for the tamariki, capturing the sparkle in their eyes, affirming their sense of self, recognising their individual interests and growing a passion for lifelong learning.

We believe the environment is the third kaiako, and children learn best through active mana aotūroa (exploration). Kaiako will ensure our place is safe and inclusive offering opportunities for tamariki to take risks, be independent and develop their confidence and curiosity, through valuing their play.

We believe in and are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognise Ngati Toa as our local iwi, community and cultural heritage. We value all cultures and the shared future we are creating. Manaakitanga (respect) is important to us in building a sense of mana atua (wellbeing) and social competencies within the tamariki. We promote positive tuakana/teina relationships with the tamariki and recognise the many learning opportunities this can bring.

We believe in open and honest mana reo (communication), empowering everyone to express their wants, needs and aspirations for their tamariki. We want to work in partnership so all tamariki thrive and have the best possible learning outcomes. We want to protect the mana, identity, language and culture of our tamariki, with our localised curriculum we aim to develop children’s independence, confidence, curiosity, creativity and social competencies. To ensure our tamariki are given the best possible opportunities to GROW AND LEARN!
